On your router webpage(usually should be )
go to wireless security settings, and set the encryption to the one you want. WPA2 is the strongest, WPA is stronger (but both WPA and WPA2 may not be supported by older systems or devices), WEP is normal.
Then type in a password under the WPA2/WPA/WEP key. Save settings you’re done.
You will find the details on the Linksys site. but here’s what you need to do in broad terms:
Install a WEP key on the router, which is a string of 10 letters and numbers using 0-9 and a-f. (not case sensitive)
For example: 1a3d2f4430
This is the key that is used to make the encryption work. You need to enter it on your PC as well so it can decrypt the signal from the router, which makes it look like a password, but it’s really much more. It does keep others from connecting, like a password, but it also is the secret decoder ring that the PC and router use to keep others from listening in over the air.
