How do I secure the router with a password. Currently it is working fine but it is not secured.

You need to access the setup page for your router. Connect a computer to the router *with an ethernet cable, not wirelessly* and open a web browser. Type in the IP address of the router in the address bar and hit enter. For linksys routers, you usually need to enter “http://192.168.1.1″ to get to the setup page. It will look like a normal web page, except maybe with bad graphics. Look around for somewhere it gives you an option to enter a “password” or “security key”. And set one. When you try to connect with your computer after that you will be prompted to enter password. (at least the first time, and also later depending on if you have windows remember the password). If you are interested in advancements in wireless internet, check out WiMax from clear. It is high speed internet that comes to you wirelessly, and is affordable. Unfortunately its only in Portland, Oregon right now, but they will be bringing it to other cities soon.
