You are probably using WEP encryption. WEP encryption can be broken (even the 64 bit) in about 1 minute. The explanation why WEP is easy to break and how to break it is long and detailed.
You should be using WPA encryption. WPA is only known to be breakable with a brute force attack, and thus it would take years to break with 64 bits or more.
