Secure Wireless Network FAQ:
My neighbor (I live in a 4-way duplex) and I have been sharing the cost of cable internet and it has worked great but he is moving and the internet setup was his. There is another secure wireless network available but I’m not sure who runs it. Is there any way to get the physical address or something of an available network? Or am I just being stupid and I should just go to all my neighbors and ask each one. (Ugh)

walk around the area with your laptop, when the signal gets higher you found the place.
There is no easy way to tell, you will need to knock on their doors. Figure that the ones with the strongest signal will be your immediate neighbors.
You can’t narrow down the location of an IP address that specifically. You can find the city/town/province via a WHOIS search, but that’s about the best you can do.
You’ll have to ask. Either that or guess based on the SSID (My upstairs neighbour’s wifi network SSID is her first name, so with some people, it’s obvious).
